    20MM HVAC air duct fire retardant phenolic foam insulation board with aluminum foil

    Phenolic Foam Insulation Board comprises premium performance rigid phenolic foam faced on both sides of one side with aluminum foil, glass tissue, kraft paper, or no facing, etc. Phenolic foam is a very versatile material suitable for a large range of applications where thermal performance, moisture resistance fire performance and in certain cases structural strength are key performance criteria.

    Widely used in central air conditioning ventilation system. Compared with the traditional air ducts,phenolic foam compound panels have the features of better insulation effect, noise elimination, light weight, long using life, extensive application,etc.


    Phenolic Foam Insulation Board

    Phenolic foam insulation is manufactured by a process in which a plastic foam forms an insulating core between two flexible tissue faced layers. It has a high closed cell content and fine cell structure.

    Rigid phenolic insulation is produced by mixing high solids and phenolic resin with a surface acting agent. The heat created by the reaction evaporates a volatile liquid blowing agent in the mixture which produces a network of small bubbles in the material. The foam can be cured to create one of two forms of the product. It can be manufactured by a continuous process to create

    thin sheet material which is laminated with various facings and cut into boards.


    Phenolic Insulation – Thermal Performance

    Rigid phenolic insulation products offer very good thermal insulating properties due to the very low thermal conductivity of phenolic foam, compared with rigid polyurethane or extruded polystyrene. It can actually be 50% more effective than other common insulation materials. Its low thermal conductivity allows specified thermal performance targets to be achieved with minimal thickness of insulation. This is particularly significant where space saving is important.



    Phenolic foam board is considered one of the best material for thermal insulation.

    It has over 90% closed cell formation, giving it good stability.

    Phenolic foams come in varying densities in the range of 35 kg/m³ to 200 kg/m³. High density varieties such as insulation boards have good strength and are suitable for floor insulation.

    The most common blowing agent used in phenolic foam insulation is ‘Pentane’. This is used to comply with EC regulation, because it is CFC and HCFC free, has no ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential. Pentane is a hydrocarbon. In order to prevent the blowing agent escaping and being replaced by air, the insulation boards are covered with gas tight aluminium foil or glass tissue or other facing as cutomers requirements
