A refractory made of SiC as the main raw material. Contains SiC 72%
to 99%. It is divided into silicon carbide bricks such as clay
bonding, Si3N4 bonding, Sialon bonding, β-SiC bonding, Si2ON2
bonding and recrystallization. The silicon carbide brick has high
thermal conductivity and good wear resistance, thermal shock
resistance and corrosion resistance.
SiC bricks ? Instructions for use
It can be used for lining of aluminum electrolytic cell, kiln for
melting aluminum pipe and ceramic kiln, lower part of large and
medium sized blast furnace body, furnace waist and belly, aluminum
refining furnace lining, zinc distillation tank lining, etc.
Silicon carbide bricks ? Production process
The formulation of coarse, medium and fine SiC should be 5:1:4. The
raw material for the manufacture of SiC bricks is generally black
SiC, and its chemical composition is as follows: SiC 98.0%, free C
O. 5%, Fe 0.2%, free SiO2 0.6%. Due to the different bonding
methods, the process is different. The brief process of different
bonding methods is (1) silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide
brick: a blank formed by using coarse, medium and fine silicon
carbide particles and fine silicon powder, and in pure N2 gas, a
kind is produced at 1370 ° C. 26alpha;-SiC is the backbone and is
in %26alpha; and %26beta;-Si3N4. The silicon nitride of the matrix
is bonded to the silicon carbide brick. There is still a small
amount of residual silicon and SiO2N2 in the matrix, and the
relative amounts of these components vary from manufacturing plant
to manufacturing plant. (2) Combining silicon carbide bricks: SiC,
silicon powder and carbon powder are mixed and formed according to
a certain ratio, and fired in a reducing atmosphere at 1400 °C. In
most cases, carbon burning is used. During the firing process, a
%26beta;-Si3N4 bonded SiC brick with %26alpha;-SiC as the framework
and fine grain %26beta;-SiC as the matrix was produced.
%26beta;-SiC is formed by the reaction of fine silicon powder with
fine carbon powder during the firing process. This product also
contains a small amount of residual silicon and carbon. (3) Silicon
oxynitride combined with silicon carbide brick: When this brick is
compounded, the proportion of fine silicon powder is less than si.
N. Combine the ratio of silicon carbide bricks. After molding, it
is fired in a N2-rich atmosphere (requiring a certain partial
pressure of O2), and the firing temperature is 1350 to 1400 °C. The
finished product is a framework of %26alpha;-SiC, which is a matrix
of Si2ON2 combined with SiC bricks, and a small amount of Si and
Si3N4 are present in the matrix. (4) Sialon combined with silicon
carbide brick: Si3N4 and Al2O3 fine powder are blended in SiC with

Classification and performance of silicon carbide bricks
The specific production process and performance of SiC bricks are
1. Silica-bonded silicon carbide brick
All products which are mainly composed of silicon carbide particles
and fine powder and partially composed of silica and quartz fine
powder are silica-bonded silicon carbide products.
For example, 90% different particle size silicon carbide and 5%
-10% silica powder and calcium oxide mixture powder (less than
0.088mm), the mixing ratio is 8:2 or 9:1. Adding an appropriate
amount of organic binder (pulp waste liquid, dextrin, methyl
cellulose) to the mud, press molding with a brick press, drying,
and firing at 1300 ~ 1400 °C.
Second, clay combined with silicon carbide brick
Clay-bonded silicon carbide products are refractory products made
of silicon carbide as the main raw material and clay as the binder.
The product has high thermal conductivity, good thermal shock
resistance and wear resistance. Used as aluminum refining furnace
lining brick, zinc distillation furnace distillation tank and
cement kiln cooler.
Third, high alumina combined silicon carbide brick
(1) Production process. A mullite-bonded silicon carbide brick was
produced using silicon carbide (SiC 98.32%) and Chenxi mullite raw
material. The particle size of the silicon carbide sand is 8~5mm,
5~3mm and 3~1mm. A fine powder is prepared from silicon carbide
powder and mullite powder, and the fine powder has a particle size
of less than 0.044 mm. After the ingredients were mixed in the
kneading machine and trapped for 24 hours, they were formed on a
vibration press molding machine. The green body was naturally dried
for 15 days, dried at 30 to 35 ° C for 15 days, and baked in a kiln
at 200 to 350 ° C for 6 days. The product is fired in an inverted
kiln. The highest firing temperature is 1500 ° C, the heat
preservation is 6 days, and the total firing time is 10 days.
(2) Physical and chemical properties. Physical and chemical
properties of mullite combined with silicon carbide brick: SiO2
82%, mullite 15%, apparent porosity 17%~19%, bulk density
2.54g/cm3, load softening temperature greater than 1700°C,
compressive strength greater than 110MPa , thermal shock resistance
(1100 ° C ~ water cooling) greater than 20 times. This silicon
carbide brick can be used for the tap hole of the ferroalloy
electric furnace and the ring brick of the blast furnace tuyere.
Fourth, nitride bonded silicon carbide brick
1. Silicon nitride combined with silicon carbide brick
(1) Raw materials. Adding silicon carbide coarse sand 30%~40%,
silicon carbide fine powder 30%~40%, and metal silicon powder
(2) Ingredients. Mix in the wet mill, first add silicon carbide
powder and metal silicon powder for 5~8min, add coarse sand and
then mix for 1~20min, add pulp waste liquid or molasses bond, wet
mix for 15~20min, control moisture in 4% ± 0.2%.
(3) Forming. It is formed by a brick press, and the molding
pressure is 50 MPa or molded by an isostatic press or a pressurized
vibration molding machine. The control brick has a bad density of
2.5g/cm3, which is beneficial to the nitriding treatment.
(4) Dry. The moisture of the slab after drying is less than 0.5%,
and is nitrided and fired in an electric furnace through a nitrogen
gas. The firing temperature is 1300~1350 ° C, and the temperature
is kept for 5 to 10 hours.
Five, self-bonding silicon carbide brick
Self-bonding (reactive bonding) silicon carbide bricks are products
in which silicon carbide is used as a bonding phase. In the
production, silicon carbide particles are used as the aggregate,
silicon carbide powder, metal silicon powder and carbon powder are
used as the matrix, and tar pitch is used as the bonding agent.
